Tour 1

CHENA HOT SPRINGS RESORT 

Founded over 100 years ago, Chena Hot Springs is the most developed hot springs destination in Alaska. World famous for its legendary healing mineral waters renewable energy projects and the Aurora Ice Museum, a year round geothermal technology wonder.

Chena Hot Springs is located a scenic 60 miles from the Westmark….

There is a restaurant located there for you to have lunch on your own…..

**Be sure to bring a towel and bathing suit!! Tour includes swimming pass.**

Leaves Hotel at 8:30am and returns to the hotel at 5pm

Tour 2

DELTA FARM TOUR 

This is a pre conference tour

Come see how farming is done in the Last Frontier with our extreme weather conditions!! On this farm tour we will travel to Delta, AK…which is a scenic 82 mile trip to see a Alaska Range Dairy…..a pig and beef farm…..Delta Meat and Sausage, a meat processing plant…..a Yak and Bison Farm….. and a flour mill….

This will be an all day tour and a box lunch will be provided!!

Cost $75.00

This tour leaves at 7:30am and returns to the hotel about 5pm

Tour 3

Equine Facilities

Everyone seems to wonder how we keep horses in Alaska.  Well here is your chance to come and learn how we are not so different.  We will tour four to five different equine set ups and talk with their owners.  They will explain how they care for their equine friends to keep them healthy and happy and will answer any of your questions.  Sign up early as space is limited. 

Lunch will be on your own at a local favorite, the Cookie Jar.

Cost $90

Tour 4     

Museums Galore

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Museum of the North is a thriving attraction and one of the must sees when visiting Fairbanks.  Not only is it a museum but also a teaching and research museum.  As you tour the museum you will learn about the different regions of Alaska and the culture.  There are also art exhibits.  It is a must not miss attraction of Alaska.

After lunch, we drive on over to the auto museum. In 1905, the first automobile appeared in Alaska….Over one hundred years later, businessman Tim Cerny resolved to showcase the history and magnificence of North America’s earliest automobiles in Fairbanks, AK.

From there we will drive to the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor Center and browse through their exhibits. 

All museum admissions are included. Lunch will be on your own at a local favorite.

Tour 5

Alaskan Shopping Experience

Do you want to experience some local favorites and get a little shopping in?  Come jump on the “Party” bus.  We will take you to the Alaska Fur Company, Alaska Bowl Company, Northern Threads, Santa Clause House, Toy Quest, and Yarn Over.  Ample time will be given to shop.  Lunch will be on your own at local favorite.

Cost $40

Tour departs at 9:45 a.m. and returns around 4:00 p.m.

Tour 6

Large Animal Research Station and Trail Breaker Kennel Tour and Dog Sled Ride

A tour of the Large Animal Research Station….a box lunch will be provided….then off to a tour a dog sled kennel and take a two-mile dog sled ride! The University of Fairbanks Large Animal Research Station (LARS) serves excellence in research and education at high latitude biology for and expertise in maintaining colonies of large animals coordinating educational opportunities, and conducting community outreach in support of the UAF mission.

Due to time we will have a box lunch while we head from LARS to Trail Breaker Kennels, home of the late Susan Butcher, winner of four Iditarod’s. At the kennel you will get an up-close tour and then take a two-mile sled ride.

This tour will require warm gear. If you are unable to provide your own let us know so we can help you find some. Or you can rent some from a local company for $30 and they will drop it off at the hotel for you.

Pre Conference Workshop

Beauty of Alaska Painting Workshop: Create a keepsake from your Alaska Adventure. Paint a breathtaking landscape with the northern lights on either a 12 x 16 canvas or a canvas tote bag. Learn to blend color and texture while capturing the essence of Alaska. No experience necessary. This class will be held at the Westmark Hotel from 1-5 pm on Wednesday.
